8 days Road Trip in Malaysia! First Stop - What to do in Malacca

In December we went on a extended Family Road trip with the girls cousins, mum and grandparents around Malaysia. Our first stop, Malacca. 

Traveling to Malacca from Singapore takes around 4 hours but we were stuck for extra 3 hours in one of the worst Jam at the Tuas Custom during the school holiday peak 😭

We finally reach Malacca close to midnight, after 7 hours. We were so exhausted from the road but is so glad to be able to rest in our comfy and spacious Hatten Suite.

The Hatten Suite has a living room which we really like when the girls come over to our room to play around while waiting for us to be ready.

Scheduled shuttle service to Jonker Walk and access to the premier lounge with free food and drinks that we missed 😔 as we wasn't aware of these perks! So now that we tell you, do enjoy it when you are there! 

If you missed the shuttle bus, don't worry, a short taxi ride cost less than rm 30 during peak hours or you can just walk there! We walked back to Hatten Hotel on the last night When we hang out at a pub along the river in Jonker walk for too late. 

TRAVELING TIPS: its very difficult to get a transport within Malacca in the wee hours so end your night early to prevent been stranded and having to walk back to your accommodation. 

Thankfully Hatten Hotel is Conveniently surrounded by Melaka’s historical landmarks and acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage sites, so most exploration of the beauty of the historical city is possible by foot when the jam is bad. 

We can walk to the fort thru the underground malls links from Hatten Hotel, ask around and go explore! 

A unique dish that you should try In Malacca is Satay Celup, its like steamboat but instead of soup broth, the soup is like the peanut dip you get when eating satay. The food are in skewers like Malaysia lok lok aka satay, so you just put the sticks in the peanut broth to cook and eat. 

We had never try and would really love to eat it but the reviews of the OG Shop came as a culture shock for us! Traditionally the broth is recycled and tables are shared, mind blown. Haha. They do provide a fresh pot of peanut broth when you pay extra but who knows right, so we didn't patronise. 

The good news is if you stay in Hatten Hotel, they have buffet Satay Celup! But we overlook the Invitation to have a try at it, 😭 blame on travel fatigue...

Oh yes, massages in Malacca is much cheaper by rm 20 compare to Johor Baru and there is a beach with beautiful sunset and camel ride . 

At the end of our road trip, we visited Malacca again when we drove down from Cameron Highlands to rest for the night. The next morning we visited Jonker Walk again for lunch, the vibes in the day and night is very different, glad we get to experience it.
